1. Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective antimoney laundering (AML) control framework;
2. Designing and monitoring AML policies and procedures for the Company in line with CANADIAN REGULATORY BODY and requirements;
3. Be a member of the internal compliance councils and bodies supporting a global compliance of the group together with other stakeholders;
4. Manage and maintain an effective Financial Crime control function, supporting and protecting the Company against risks related to Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Proliferation Financing, Fraud, and associated reputational risks, ensuring stakeholder needs are met;
5. Designing and implementing internal procedures and controls relevant to the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing;
6. Develop and manage a regular monitoring and reporting process to inform senior management of any emerging developments or issues;
7. Ensure that all activity and transactions identified as potentially suspicious are investigated, reviewed, and resolved in accordance with established procedures;
8. Design and implement training programs regarding AML/CFT/PF;
9. Analyze and identify financial crime patterns and apply appropriate controls;
10. Manage and supervise the compliance department to ensure all Company activities comply with relevant AML/CFT/PF regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures;
11. Act as the risk owner for financial crime risks, escalating any risks related to AML and financial crime to the Board, as appropriate;
12. Investigate internal suspicious activity reports and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports(STRs) to the Canadian Financial Intelligence Unit (FINTRAC);
13. Submit financial crime and annual Compliance Officer reports to Canadian regulatory authorities and the Board;
14. Respond promptly to any reasonable requests for information made by FINTRAC or enforcement agencies;
15. Provide approval and risk assessment of new or amended products, jurisdictions, or sales channels;
16. Oversee and assist with the onboarding of new clients through a rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process;
17. Approve business relationships where the firm wishes to enter or continue a relationship with high-risk clients;
18.19. Oversight of management information and key reporting metrics to the CEO.
20. Assist the business in developing a long-term compliance strategy;
21. Fluent English is required, and proficiency in French or other relevant languages in Canada is an advantage.
What We Are Looking For:
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher;
2. Resident in Canada or the ability to relocate within a reasonable distance of the Company’s headquarters;
3. 4-5+ years of compliance experience or 1+ year(s) as a Compliance Officer in an AML role, with prior experience in financial services as an advantage;
4. Strong knowledge and experience with AML/CFT/PF regulatory regimes in Canada;
5. Prior approval from the CANADIAN REGULATORY BODY as a Regulated Individualis an advantage;
6. Experience and understanding of cryptocurrency-related compliance processes and familiarity with available monitoring tools and controls (e.g., Chainalysis) is anadvantage;
7. ACAMS (CAMS), ICA certification, or other recognized compliance certifications are an advantage.
